Is it a good idea to drop and then join next year? Like are chances better as a sophomore

If you are not happy with the house who gave you a bid then you should drop.
Rushing as a sophomore doesn't give you a better chance except that maybe you'd do better with making a connection with other houses since it'd be your second time going thru recruitment.

There are no guarantees you'll get a bid from a top house next year and you probably won't get another bid from the house you dropped this year. It's up to you if it's worth the risk.
