recrutiment 2015

by:

For ladies going through rush, keep an open mind.
I know everyone tells you that, but I ended up dropping recruitment because I stuck with a stigma that I couldn't be in a bottom house, and I made very few friends last semester and wish I didn't make that mistake and stuck through the process because all the sororities know how to have a good time.

So have fun, be yourself, and be nice to all the chapters (because you may end up with them or having friends in that sorority or end up being in it).

And stick through until BID DAY! You only meet a select few girls so you may have just talked to a person who isn't as social/good at recruiting or holding a convo. Stick through it for the days because, no matter what house you go too, I guarantee that bid day will be fun whether or not you decide to stay involved.

Plus, can't say its 100% true, but I am pretty sure you will be able to get in to parties whether or not you are "top" or "bottom", lets be real. Boys just like girls.

I could not agree with you more. I rushed last year and ended up joining what would be considered a "lower middle/bottom" house. I put that in quotes because in Greek life, no one really cares about what house you are in, Greeks hang out with other Greeks. I could not imagine myself anywhere else, my sisters are super fun and outgoing but also extremely supportive, down to earth, and not the least bit superficial. We have friends in many fraternities and get in to parties all of the time. My point is that if you go in to recruitment with an open mind, a positive attitude, and give each house a chance, you will be happy no matter where you end up!

My sister pledged as a freshman while I was a junior - both in, say, mid livel. It was awesome. Met so many friends of each other it was so cool. Even my bro's thought it was cool and kind of protected her. Hey - it's an awesome experience that I was glad to share. Also became great friends with some of her sisters - even a few I didn't know about until later.

Go through the process. It's the way it is for a reason. Don't get hung up on "top house" stuff. SERIOUSLY The girls at the "bottom house" have a great time in their greek experience. Also: remember, you're in it for life - which means what is not a "top" undergraduate house - can still provide a very wide resource as alumna. Something to think about. :)
