Is going greek really worth it? I need some honest feedback before I make the decision whether to rush or not.

It depends what you're looking to get out of it and the person you are. There's a house that fits most everyone so I always tell people the worst you can do is go rush all the houses, meet people, at the worst you get some free food out of it. It's smart to go with a friend or someone else who wants to rush because it makes the whole experience a lot easier and more fun. Top houses are obviously more intimidating and are more selective than bottom houses which are more considerate and less selective, so have an idea of where you stand on a social level and base your priority houses off of that.

To me, Greek life reminds me of a more fun version of high school because each house has its own clique but through your pledging semester you really grow to love the people and it becomes a lot smaller once you have an established friend group.

On the other hand, there's loads of people that are totally fine doing their own thing so if you're considering it, just rush, if you get a bid you like, take it, then after a a semester if you don't like it just drop.

Going Greek has made my college experience so much better.
If you don't Rush, you're going to feel pretty awkward and lonely when you see all the Greeks dressed up for theme parties that you can't get in.
There's always a bunch of GDI's complaining that they don't have anything to do.
Well you should've Rushed! LOL

Going Greek is not always the best decision for everybody. I say this from experience. If you are a relatively good student, who can BALANCE social life with school and work - then it's a good indication you can benefit from it. If only school and work works for you (many reasons why one cannot do all three) then it is hard. If you don't have to work (mommy & daddy) then at least make sure you can do school. It's a matter of "If you can do both, you can do both - if you can't - then you know which one has to be cut loose...."

Most competent college students can do several things at once. If you can't - then maybe you're not "college material". In a professional life, you'll be often be called to do several things at once. Perhaps you were trained for that in High School, perhaps not. This is a big chance to show your time-management skills in life. If you can handle it - the rewards are great. Schedule it out. Prioritize things. You'll do great. Just don't let "partying" get in the way of all the great things ahead of you. :)
