will we be getting another sorority this year?
by: asdfWe haven't gotten a new sorority since AGD in Fall 2013 and AEPhi folded at the end of that year so the # of sororities hasn't actually changed. There are currently about twice as many fraternity as sororities on campus.

Having some more sororities does sound nice, but all it would really do is lower the numbers of girls in the existing houses. From my understanding every girl is guaranteed a bid, so the number of girls each house can take is based on the number of girls rushing. So say there's 900 girls rushing and there 9 houses, each house can take a PC of 100. Say they add 3 houses and 900 rush again so now theres 900 girls going for 12 houses, each house can take a PC of 75. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.
I feel like all adding more houses would do is just increase the superficiality of top houses as far as only taking girls who fit their exact desired pledge class.

When SDSU does decide to add another sorority, having had a previously existing chapter does help. The two most recent additions (AGD and DZ) are not in their original incarnations here. The following sororities are currently dormant at SDSU: AEPhi, Theta, ADPi, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Xi Delta and Alpha Sigma Alpha, possibly a few others. Tri Delt, KKG and ZTA, who I have seen many ask about on here, have never existed at SDSU.

1. You're not guaranteed to get a bid. Tons of girls didn't.
2. You have a point, kinda, but we're only talking about adding one new sorority. They would never add more than 1 fraternity or sorority at once.
3. We seem to get a new fraternity every year despite a few houses not having high numbers...
4. Why force top tier sororities to take girls they don't want to take?
