fraternity history & potential recolonizations
by: Monty
The following IFC fraternities have all been kicked off campus at SDSU in the past 15 years & are currently inactive. Interestingly enough, most are now eligible to recolonize.
ΒΘΠ - kicked off in 2000, eligible to return now
(house was part of Greek Circle, sits between the current DZ & KD houses on College Ave)
TKE- kicked off in 2000, eligible to return now
(house was 5064 College Pl, where AEPi is now)
ΛΧΑ - kicked off in 2008, eligible to return now
(house was on fraternity row, at the corner of Hardy Ave & 55th Street, currently occupied by the Student Veterans Organization)
ΣΠ - kicked off in 2008, eligible to return now
(house was on the corner of Campanile Dr & Montezuma, across from Fiji's current house. It is currently occupied by the Christian Sorority ΑΔΧ)
ΣΑΜ - kicked off in 2009, eligible to return now
(house was on fraternity row, Hardy Ave side, between the houses currently occupied by Phi Kapp & the Student Veterans Organization)
ΣΝ - kicked off in 2012, eligible to return in 2016 or 2017
(house was on fraternity row, Viejas Arena side, at the corner of Aztec Walk & 55th Street)
ΣΧ - kicked off in 2013, eligible to return in 2017 or 2018
(house is currently being rented by Theta Chi)
ΔΣΦ - suspended in 2014, eligible to return in 2016
(house between Phi Kapp & Hardy Ave Apartments)
Fun fact: KΣ has been kicked off campus three times since 2000, although they are now back on campus once again

My friend's cousin was a Beta here. They actually had 2 houses - 1 was on the corner of Campanile and Lindo Paseo and the other smaller house was on Lindo Paseo across the street from The Suites On Paseo. Both buildings were demolished and the properties are now parking lots. That property across from The Suites was owned be a Beta and sold it to SDSU.

Ok so everyone seems very curious about fraternity recolonization & we can only speculate who's next to colonize at SDSU, but we can lay out on here what we do know.
-Fall 2015: There's no guarantee we will see a new fraternity colonize, but if national leaders and local alumni initiate a return & gain approved by the school's administration, we could see the return of any of the following IFC fraternities: ΣΑΜ, ΛΧΑ, ΣΠ, ΒΘΠ, TKE, ΔX, some darkhorse fraternity that hasn't been active at State in decades, or even one looking to colonize at SDSU for the first time ever. Personally, I'd think Lambda Chi would be the most likely to be next, simply because they are the only one of these fraternities still in ownership of property at SDSU (their house is at Fraternity Row & being rented out to the Student Veterans Organization. Sammy (Sigma Alpha Mu) is also a possibility, although unlike Lambda Chi, they sold their house on Frat Row to the school when they were kicked off. However, they could still buy it back, as there has yet to be a fraternity to inhabit it since they did in 09. I've also heard rumors of TKE coming back, but they'd need a house, as AEPi now has their old one.
-Fall 2016: ΣΝ & ΔΣΦ are both eligible to return. They also both still own houses on Fraternity Row, which could help them return sooner rather than later.
-Fall 2017: ΣX is eligible to finally come back. They still own their house & it is being rented out to ZBT this year (Theta Chi the past 2 years)

All these houses have long histories at State. The issue is how involved their alumni are in rallying for recolonization. Some simply don't have the numbers to get an interest group together. They'll probably not be back for a long time. My feel is
ΒΘΠ - They could be back soon.
TKE- They could totally be back soon.
ΛΧΑ -They could totally be back soon.
ΣΠ - Probably won't be back.
ΣΑΜ - Unlikely to be back soon.
ΣΝ - Possibly could be back soon.
ΣΧ - Will be back to build a new house soon.
ΔΣΦ - Will probably be back in the same dump.
ΔΧ - Will never be back.

Sigma Nu and Delta Sig have supposedly both applied to return fall 2016. Since Sigma Chi still dirty rushes, it could very well still be several years before they're allowed to even apply to return to campus
