What are sororities even choosing based on?

by:

There were so many extremely pretty, kind, energetic, outgoing girls that didn't get a bid this year or who dropped because they didn't connect with the one or two houses they had left. What are these sororities choosing on? Based on today's bid day videos, it certainly isn't just looks or fashion sense. Are the parents of some of these kids donating heavily to the sororities or something? Very odd.

The most beautiful, popular, sweetest head cheerleader girl from my high school got dropped. If she can’t get a bid, there’s no hope for the rest of us.

That sucks, and that is exactly what I'm talking about! There is no logic to it! Is the computer algorithm for the sororities malfunctioning? I literally don't get it.

Well, whatever went wrong in the sororities' selection process, they are going to have to live with the consequences of it. Sad they left a lot of the most beautiful, talented, sisterly girls in the dust. I didn't even rush, and it deeply upsets me.

It comes down to girls pulling in their friends. I’m not Greek, but my 3 roommates are and they did exactly this. It’s almost impossible to come into rush without knowing anyone and compete with girls who have bffs rushing.

I mean each sorority can only accept a small fraction of the girls rushing. There was a large freshman class this year so more people rushing and therefore more people being dropped even if they are great girls

TOOTS, not just great girls, but many beautiful, outgoing, talented girls were totally shut out. What happened with them? Did the sororities not like their Instagrams?

It’s honestly just luck. Depends on who you know and if u don’t know anyone it depends on who you talk to. My friend really wanted pi phi but the girl she talked to one day was sick so they didn’t hit it off and she got rated low and dropped. And a lot of pnms go in with bias and wanting a specific one which doesn’t help. Heard girls say they intentionally acted rude just to make sure they didn’t get certain houses back, which left them with limited houses and super upset if they get dropped from the ones they wanted. But also it was 1800 girls, with roughly about only 800 able to get bids. It’s tough

ACTIVE, I heard the houses gave bids to 150 girls, so that would be 1,200 spots, unless some of the houses took fewer girls. Are you sure they only gave bids to 800 in total?

I believe people about the sororities pulling in their friends, but how do freshman girls even know girls in sororities two weeks into classes? Do they know them from high school? What if they are from a different state and nobody from they know from high school is in the sorority? Which the sororities would do informal parties before rush like the frats, so at least some of the PNMs without connections could stand a chance.

And by the way, some of these objectively beautiful (seriously "top-tier" house looking), cool, outgoing girls I know did not drop out of rush just because they didn't get into the perceived "top" houses. They were totally open and loved other houses, but they were even dropped from mid-tier and one or two of the perceived "low tier" houses as well. I'm stunned.
