yes it’s worth it to rush

by: Just Do It!

Honestly if you’re thinking about it, just do it. See the process, meet the different chapters and see if it’s right for you. It’s 100% worth it to at least try it out rather than regret not rushing later. I was skeptical about the process and decided not to rush and regretted it so much after seeing all the new girls so excited after bid day. I had to wait a whole year to rush again and I definitely signed up the first day registration was released. Honestly best decision of my life. So many unforgettable memories with new lifelong friends, going to formals, helping the community through philanthropy, feeling at home, and growing as a person I still wish I would have rushed the year before so I could have another year of it!
Of course it can be a big financial commitment but if you can afford it I 100% recommend joining a chapter. It’s honestly worth it in the long run, and you money goes back to you through sisterhood events, chapter meals, dances, clothes, etc. it’s not like you’re just throwing away money. It’s an investment in yourself!
If you want to rush, do it! Don’t let worrying about if it’s right for you, if you’re a transfer or too old, tried rushing once already and want to give it another chance, or don’t see yourself as a “typical sorority girl” it doesn’t hurt to try it out! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity so make the most of it :)

I’m a transfer and im scared I won’t get a bid. If I don’t purposefully drop a sorority/suicide or whatever it’s called, do I have a chance? Do you know if there’s a quota or if juniors are “free”?

I’m pretty sure there is a quota, but it is quite small like you’re not guaranteed that you’ll get in a house but you definitely have a chance! Houses only accept a few upperclassmen but there are way less juniors than sophomores and freshmen so it stays about the same ratio. When I rushed, every single house accepted at least a few juniors.
To be honest of course there’s a chance that it doesn’t work out and you don’t end up in a house, there are sooo many girls rushing and only so many spots open in sororities, so if it happens don’t take it personally. It’s a difficult process and through rush you’ll talk to like 2 people out of the 150 in the chapter the first day and sometimes you don’t click, but that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t have fit in with the chapter as a whole there are so many different types of girls in each chapter with different interests and honestly it’s a bit of a game of luck to be paired with someone you really click with. I can’t say for everyone, but MOST people who don’t end up in a sorority didn’t because they dropped out of the process because they didn’t get into their top pick. But that goes for anyone and your age doesn’t affect it! But honestly just go for it and try it out! Don’t let the fear of getting dropped stop you from rushing. Just be prepared and yourself and see the process for yourself!

I have never met a single girl who literally got dropped by every single house. Every girl I know who didn't get a bid got cut from her top 3 and dropped because she didn't want to be in a bottom house or whatever. You will get a bid, it won't necessarily be from a house you want.

Thanks guys! I’m just going to try to be positive about it. I really hope the second person is right though. I’m not the type of person to drop because it’s not a top house, I can see that every sorority has its own special sisterhood and I wanna be able to find my own. So nervous but excited
