commuting and greek life
by: CommuterBHey guys, does anyone here commute but sill participate in Greek life? Hoping to rush a sorority next year as a transfer and I will be living like 20-30 min away. Also when are meetings typically? Hoping not to have it conflict with my majors student society

I'm a commuter! It definitely makes attending certain sorority events harder, especially because so many mandatory things are held after 7pm on weekdays, but it's also the only reason why I have a social life. Being a native (my commute's about 30 mins as well) a lot of people from my high school district went to State and either didn't get involved on campus, or didn't make any new friends throughout their four years because they had no outlet to do so. The school can feel pretty alienating if you don't find your niche quick enough. I definitely recommend giving recruitment a try because I can guarantee you won't make friends through classes alone, and if it ends up not working out then you can always drop.

Thanks so much! I think I will. Do you know many juniors/transfers that rushed?
