expansion
by: greekAnyone know for sure if we’re getting another new frat or sorority this fall? I remember hearing like months ago that fall 18 ifc was expecting to bring back another frat. If that was the plan it would seem even more likely with phi kap out of the picture now

Just don't understand why they feel the need to add more fraternities. All the guys who belong in greek life (and many who don't) are already in a fraternity.

You've made the mistake of allowing a little social success to warp your view of the universe.
SDSU is a third tier school. This is not Stanford, Chicago, or Yale. When you leave here and apply to grad school most top tier schools will say SDSWho?
No No No you are sadly mistaken. You and your fraternity are not top tier. If you were top tier material, you'd be somewhere else.
Stop creating a false hierarchy of human value at SDSU and start appreciating the people around you.

Also I'd think admin would pretty much be all for expansion since more fraternities means a more inclusive greek life, and that's been a big priority for them

@Ok I'm pretty sure they mean getting in to the parties, not joining the frats. Which is a problem. The frats become too exclusive and turn away half the girls in line because they're not in a top sorority or don't know half of the guys. Even when they put in the effort to dress for the theme, girls are still turned away which is unheard of at other schools who don't care as much about the hierarchy system as ours.

Well we don't have very many fraternities for how big this school is now. Most big schools have well over 20. We have 15 right now

Isn’t happening for two big reasons- 1 There hasn’t been much if any interest from sororities or groups looking to colonize (while there are a handful of fraternities lined up waiting for approval to start) and 2 There’s a shortage of sorority housing as it is already, as DG doesn’t have a house of their own, renting sigma chi’s (fraternity row meanwhile is still sitting half empty)

not in the know anymore but thought Lambda Chi, Sigma Pi abd Sammy were closest last time. Lambda owns the corner house on frat row leased to the veterans, Sigma Pi has wealthy and older alumni and sammy got building permits a few years ago for a new house near DU and theta chi

Here is a breakdown from someone who has been going here for a long time.
The only dormant fraternity that owns property on campus is LXA (they own the house that the SVO uses) which leads me to believe they would be most likely to come back.
Maybe a year or two ago, someone posted a link on here to blueprints that Sigma Alpha Mu (Sammy) had for a new house on campus. I have not heard anything else regarding the matter since.
While TKE is indeed eligible to apply to come back, there is nothing to suggest they are more likely than anyone else (posts on Greekrank are meaningless).
