A lot of freshmen think they're cool enough to get into these top houses and then are smacked with reality. Go into rush with an open mind

If your cool and want to rage or want to be in a big house that's great but be aware it will hurt like hell if you show up for an event next week and you are turned away because you are not on the invitation only list. Have a back up plan because Nov-Mar are cold dark lonely months for freshman at SDSU without a built in circle of friends

Also ask yourself what will it feel like if you pledge and pass up on other bids and then drop or get dropped before initiation. You end up alone in this scenario also

Right, but it's important not to just join a house just for the sake of joining one. If you feel like you're having to settle for something or being pressured to go with something that you know isn't the best thing for you there's no sense in sticking with it. Same goes for if you pledge somewhere that seems chill and have second thoughts. Rushing again in spring or next fall to take another shot at what you really want isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. You could use that time to get a better feel for the greek environment & make a more informed decision on what's best for you. You also might increase your chances of getting a bid

Be aware that fraternities offered more bids than they have available space for new initiates. This means when they offer bids they already intend to drop pledges before they initiate.

Pledges get dropped for a variety of reasons.

Sometimes pledges don't meet certain standards. However, sometimes everyone meets those standards and they just need to shrink the size of the pledge class. And sometimes the Exec Board wants to demonstrate that the pledge class is powerless so they drop people to make an examples of them.

Fail to get a bid or reach initiation and you'll be shunned by the Greeks. They love and respect you this week, by next week they won't even recognize you exist. It's a binary system. Anyone who says you were close, but didn't get in is lying to you. If they didn't give you a bid they will never give you a bid.

No sane person wants to Rush and pledge twice. It will destroy your freshman year.

Greek life is great and being a successful GDI is very difficult.

Be thoughtful and introspective. Find the fit that will serve you best during the next four years and for the rest of your life

Is it true that Sig ep doesn't actually haze or have a legit pledge process here? They seem like a solid chapter but I don't think I'll pledge if that's the case. Seems lame

they haze and have one of the longest pledge processes, which makes sense considering their Top Tier
