why is greek life here so exclusive?
by: sdsuOne of my best friends is in a mid tier sorority at USCB. She was shocked to hear about how sdsu's greek life is so exclusive and how only frats/sororities associate with those in the same tier as them. Shes in a mid tier sorority, yet they have socials with all of the frats, and the same goes for other sororities. Just kinda wondering, does anyone know when/why sdsu's greek community became so exclusive, and since when rankings mattered so much? It's kinda weird to me to, especially after going there and just seeing how the dynamic is so different and more relaxed.

It's exclusive because there's only a limited amount of space usually for parties, as well as the fact that honestly there's a huge gap between the top fraternities and sororities compared to the lower ones. Sdsu is pretty superficial as well so the girls and guys only want to party with cool guys or hot girls. And the lower Greek houses can't supply that

Also there's also not cute/lame people in alll houses top or bottom just because you are in top house does not determine your value/quality of a person

it is weird to me because it really seems like sdsu is the only school so exclusive. just seems like at most other schools for example they care less about what house and more about if you're a girl and you're pretty. idk i just don't know of any school with as much of a divide as sdsu has

I left SDSU for this reason, I am in greek life at my new school and the social environment around greek life is completely different. I'm in a "top house" (even though no one really cares about that here) and we have exchanges with top frats and bottom frats. Everyone has socials with everyone. When I tell people about SDSU in this context they are shocked too. All I can say is try not to let this shallow mindset get to you! Everyone is so much more than their "tier" and what frats you go to. This is something SDSU needs to work on and hopefully it will improve as they add more sororities/fraternities. In the meantime surround yourself with people that look past this and you will still have a great time at SDSU :)

Because the hot girls want to party with the cool guys, and the cool guys want to party with the hot girls. The hot girls dont want to party with average goobers, and the cool guys dont wanna party with average looking girls. I admit its very superficial but it is what it is. If youre a 5/10, you cant expect to land 9/10s...

Here is what I'm wondering...a couple of the middle tier sororities have really hot girls now and a couple of the top tiers well..don't. and I am not slamming any sororities just stating the facts. So the logic of top parties with top because they are hot doesn't hold.
Will this shift they way everybody socializes???

The amount of hot girls in middle tiers are not enough to counteract the not hot girls in top tiers. Just get over the fact you're never gonna be let in to a good party at state

If there's a limited amount of space why don't you do first come first serve plus there are plenty of cool people in lower houses you're just to shallow to realize that
