plain and simple: some chapters have houses and some don't. i'm sure situations like the one you described do occur, but i think the adverse happens too, where a girl genuinely likes an unhoused chapter over a housed one and chooses the unhoused. having recruitment in a common space doesn't take away the fact that certain chapters STILL have houses. pnms will still know who those chapters are and it will still be a factor in their decision, which would defy the entire basis of initially being in a common space. also, although it would be a plus for the girls already in the chapter, i don't think that getting a house would make recruitment more fair, because each chapter doesn't recruit the same type of girls. most likely pnms know the reputations and statuses of each house and want to be affiliated with a "top" house or as close to the top as possible, even if they inherently know they might not fit in. it's sad, but true and there's no way to fix that, common space or not.

get over not having a house... sounds like you are not happy with your new girls if all you can talk about is getting rid of houses during rush. never going to happen. grow up and be thankful you are still a sorority.

I'm rushing in the Fall and have heard great things about Theta! I could care less about tiers or ranks or what other bs people use to gage how "good" a sorority is. I've met incredible girls at the UCF chapter firsthand, and I definitely trust my own judgment over someone who's out to make others look bad by posting on some website anonymously. I'm just wondering though, how much your dues are expected to rise due to the fact that you now have a house?

Dues will be 2 grand. No meal plan included. (Most expensive on campus with almost no benefits besides leasing a frat house from UCF).
And you dont want to trust a girls opinion who writes on a website anonymously but that's just what you are doing yourself, is it not?

^ According to that, if you want to live in the Theta house (with no meal plan, no kitchen, and communal bathrooms) you will have to pay almost as much as you would at Tri-Delt. Theta's rent is the second most expensive after KD.
