Please PLEASE do not go by this website at all, freshman.
1.You have so many petty girls bashing a sorority (I've seen one girl bash ZTA 8 times!).Girls also come on here and self rank over and over.
2. Who cares about a "tier"? I know girls in supposed bottom tiered who are amazing, sweet and pretty girls, and top tiered who are fake, nasty, selfish, etc.
3. Every single sorority is going to have their few bad apples. Don't expect to love every single girl in one particular sorority, It's the overall vibe you get.
4. Try to know girls from sororities in advance, and ask away, Meeting people for a week who put on their best smile and best behavior is not a good assessment of people.
5. Try to pay attention to things that matter to YOU. IE:If you are a bleeding liberal heart, you are not going to want to join a conservative based one. If you tend to be more on the loud and crazy side, you won't fit in to one that tends to be more quiet.
6. HAVE FUN!!!

Many people will tell you that top tier is based off of looks, personality, gpa, involvement, etc. To be honest, they all play a factor, but BY FAR top tier is based off of looks. So top tier is considered the Barbie-looking chicks, lower tier is considered the typically less attractive chicks, and middle tier is your average, decently pretty chicks. It's usually overall fraternity opinion that decides this, but sororities pretty much know it as well, and this will be made pretty clear during recruitment when you're meeting the chapters as a whole. So if looks are the reason you're joining, there you go. But hopefully you will concentrate on finding a house whose personality matches yours because that, not looks, is what will be making you life-long friends.

Middle tiers. Pi Phi, Theta, AXiD, DZ. You might be surprised though, that it is very possible to know exactly where to go after a week. You'll get a feel for the houses. And it'll be made easier since the houses cut as well. This is a mutual selection process- in the end, you probably won't be choosing from all 11. Some won't choose you, and then you can focus on the sororities who thought you'd be a good fit.
