My truth about sorority life
by: Truth
I’m in an upper chapter and I want to tell pnms about my experience. It’s not all bad but it’s definitely not what you think when you go through recruitment. I can’t speak for others but this is my truth. First off it’s really hard to be friends with people outside of Greek life. There are so many expectations and sorority activities events there’s barely enough time in a day for school and eating.
I joined for sisterhood and helping others, that’s not what my chapter is about. The girls are super cliquish in my own chapter, so much for sisterhood. There’s almost no pan love between chapters either. It’s all about status and competition. Most of the girls have a superiority complex and it can really toxic and stressful. It changes you and how you feel about yourself.
Recruitment can also be very superficial, the girls pretty much just care about image. The way people treat each other isn’t Christian like at all even though certain chapters claim to be. I wish I knew all this before I joined. I wanted to share some inside info that you don’t find out until you are initiated.
