panhellenic recruitment part 2

by:

So I went through recruitment this week and dropped the morning of bid day because I truly did not feel at home with the sororities I had left. I'm a sophomore and was thinking about going through sorority recruitment again next fall as a junior. Would rushing again be a lot harder? Or would no one remember that I rushed last fall. I feel like I would do better knowing what I know now.

It’s going to be 1000x harder as a junior and someone is bound to remember you. Since you’ve gone through once it does decrease your chances since if someone remembers you, they can say negative things. I understand you didn’t feel “at home” but i think it’s important to remember you have no idea who any of these girls are. Recruitment is all step clapping and smiling but that is truly not who someone is, it’s a show. Actually running home and going to events is what makes you like the sorority, the “at home” feeling DOES NOT come right away for everyone, it just isn’t logical to think it would. My best advice is to become friends with many Panhellenic women, so they can put in a good word for you, and many women will know you when you walk in the door. Otherwise, i feel you’ll have the same experience next year, if not worse, as this year.
