Wrong, the 1st round or two is gpa cuts with kids who didn’t stand out. If a kid stands out you write his name down and as long as they meet gpa minimums you continue to keep this pnm until you decide to drop or bid.

I’m a senior and know kids in sae and ksig who got in with a 2.7-2.5’s GPA so No. The last couple years they have been the most competitive houses during rush so unless your going sig ep (gpa kids) you should really be fine for most top frats. Just be a kid who is is not a complete square and try and dress appropriately. Don’t stress.
Side note, the current IFC rules allow frats to bid kids down to a 2.5 minimum GPA, so just be above that and your fine.

If you are below a 2.5, even if you are a stand out kid be prepared to pay the fine. No chapter worth joining is going to take other member's money and pay your fine for you. If a chapter offers this, they are likely a desperate and poorly ran house.
