I'm coming to arizona from the northeast in the fall, and have signed up to rush. But after reading this page i am second guessing my decision to rush. it seems like there is so much negative drama and vicious fighting with the sororities. Also, i keep hearing that sorority girls are "superficial" and "snobby" and i really hope these stereotypes are not true at arizona. I'm a laid back, easy going person and i want to join a sorority to make the most of my college experience.I want to spend time with fun, genuine girls i can have a good time with. i have also heard that rush week can be a very cutthroat and negative experience, and i am hoping this is not true. i'm experience is really like hoping people will reply to this post with their opinions of what the sorority experience is really like at arizona.

Why don't you just do what every other PNM does and GO THROUGH RUSH. Stop asking questions and freaking out, you'll be put in whatever house you belong in. And if you try to act like different just to get into a specific house, trust me, you won't get in.

Rush is brutal. you will cry at least once or twice during the week. so you better toughen up and do it fast. rush is totally superficial and brutal. you say you are from the northeast? Then you should already be used to drama and snobby girls. You better be pretty, there are scads of gorgeous California girls here. maybe you should not rush, you sound fragile imo. There, you got the whole the truth like it or not.

Relax and just be yourself. There are so many different houses. You will find your place :). The best advice is to just go with it and see if you like it because if you go specifically off of reputations or your friends you may end up crying and dropping out. Especially set 1 and 2 don't get too set on one house.

Man up, sweetie. Rush is war. One of the hardest things you will have experienced up to this point in your life. I was sick to my stomach all week and really tense. I got into a house I love, but I also know I'm lucky, because I knew great girls who were the whole package who did not get in any top or even middle houses and they dropped out. One transferred the next year. It was only two years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. My house will be nice to you but look out for all the fake nice houses that are literally putting on a play. Hopefully you will feel how fake it is and find a house where the girls are great and you feel at home. If not, drop out. Don't pledge if it's not right. Dropping out is hard, and not fun at all. I know a girl who dropped a great house cause she hated it. Greek life is amazing but not for everyone. Try to chill and really focus on each house you visit. The differences are pretty obvious, but you need to really tune in on the girls- their personalities, the way they speak to you, their smiles, etc. Look for phonies and then run far away. Whew. Done.

Greek Life is amazing. Can't imagine my life here without my sorority, it's SO fun and I love it. But I agree that it's not amazing if you wind up in the wrong house and don't like it or your new sisters. That would suck. Don't be so nervous that you don't pay close attention to each house. Find the one you feel the best in! Good Luck!
