I agree. They look for the same type of girls, and it works well in most of the country, but the South is more traditional. I have friends at Ole Miss and Bama and Aphis are still insta hot and wealthy, but they’re not respected at all on campus and have bad return rates during rush. The South focuses more on tradition, connections, and a “pageant queen” type of beauty.

Traditionally Alpha Phi tends to do better on the west coast. For example, besides Arizona schools, many universities in California, Oregon and Colorado also have Alpha Phi chapters considered at the top of their Greek life. Sororities that you tend to see at the top in the south or east coast are Alpha Chi Omega and Pi Beta Phi, and a lot of other sororities we don’t have here like ZTA and Phi Mu.

Some of the strongest houses in the South are Tri-Delta, Chi O, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, and Delta Gamma. Pi Phi has some strong chapters as well as does Kappa, AXO and ADPi. Theta has some strong chapters, but is lower tier at Ole Miss and Alabama, two schools with the toughest recruitments in the country.
Alpha Phi is strong nationally but not as nationally strong as others like Kappa, Theta, Pi Phi, Chi O and Tri-Delt. The South is their very weak spot, their 'brand' just doesn't gel with that region.

I always thought alpha phi at Alabama was considered a top house? Is it not?

No, Alpha Phi is not a top house at Alabama...not even close.
Top houses are AXO, Phi Mu, Kappa, KD, DDD and XO. AXO and Phi Mu are considered by many to be the very top.
APhi is considered a lower tier house and I think they always have been. It's hard for "newer" houses to ever break out of the lower tiers when they go to a school like Alabama where Greek life is so intense and the top (and even mid-tier) tier houses haven't' changed in forever. Really, tiers don't change anywhere except in a few rare cases.

If you’re looking for the strongest nationally it’s goinf to be Pi Phi ,Kappa but some of our bottom tier houses are huge elsewhere like the south.
