do rankings really matter

by: yeahigotaquestion

I'm doing fraternity rush for fall, and I have a friend telling me that I would be a good fit for Sig Ep because I'm smart and to try and rush Sigma Chi also. Lurking on here for a while makes it sound like Sig Ep is considered a joke and that it isn't fun and I should only aim for high ranked houses. Do rankings and all that really matter or is it just something people on here like to do to raise their self-worth? Basically, if I rush Sig Ep will my experience actually be as bad as this website makes it sound or should I just go for it?

If you use Greek rank as a basis to decide where to go you’re doing yourself he disservice kid

Good point, I figure I should take most of the stuff on here with a grain of salt. It's just sort of the only active thing on the internet that gives a remote glimpse into fraternity life

Yes fraternity rankings are a thing, and girls will always prefer to party at some fraternities over others. But don’t let that discourage you. When you go through fall rush you literally have to meet every fraternity. It isn’t really your choice where you want to go unless you are wanted by all the fraternities which is very rare. Go through the process and you will find your people. Don’t aim for the top always because if there are 1000 PNMs rushing, only 60-80 of those kids will get into pike or sig chi. Only 45% get bids, and only 10% get the bid they initially want. Focus on meeting the guys in every frat and making a good impression on every house. You’ll hopefully find the right one for you.

Yeah I mean it matters some what. Depends on what you want out of a frat. Girls do prefer going to top houses and the parties are bigger and better but it depends on how much you’re trying to party and how much you care about rep
