University of Arizona Statement Regarding the Removal of the Gamma Rho Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity:
The Kappa Sigma fraternity has been under investigation this semester for alleged violations of the University of Arizona Code of Conduct. During the investigation the fraternity was placed on interim loss of
recognition, limiting their chapter activities.
On Wednesday July 18th, 2018 the decision was made to permanently remove Kappa Sigma’s recognition from the University of Arizona. Effective immediately, the chapter is no longer recognized at the University of Arizona and has been asked to cease all activity on the University of Arizona campus. This decision was made following a detailed investigation into several alleged violations of the student code of conduct.
The chapter was also charged with violating the terms of their previous sanction.The chapter has been on probation since the fall semester of 2017. In the spring of 2018 the chapter’s activities were restricted to only allow for brotherhood events and community service. The investigation revealed that Kappa Sigma had violated the terms of their previous sanctions and probation.
