low gpa, should i still try to rush?

I'm an incoming freshman who was planning to rush, but after attending a meeting at orientation I'm not so sure. My regular unweighted gpa is a 3.0788, but my unweighted core gpa is 2.89. I switched into one of the most academically challenging charter schools in my state from an expensive private school because I wasn't happy at the private school and I wanted my parents to be able to save for college. Switching schools was pretty hard for me and my gpa clearly took a hit. I see that a few sororities accept 2.8's (including the one I would really like to be a part of), but everything says that a 3.0 gpa is strongly recommended. Would I be able to rush or would I be cut from all of them after the first day?
