freshmen fraternity fall rush vs spring rush

I am attending U of A next year as a regular 18 year old freshmen. Do most freshmen rush in the fall or wait until the spring? Getting to college a week early seems like a lot, but if the fall rush is better than the spring I'm willing to do it. Could someone explain the difference between the two?

Fall rush is better the quicker you can get out of being a geed the better

get pledging over with as quick as possible

Another advantage fall pledgeship has over the spring is pledge class mixers with sororities. PC mixers are an easy way to get to know a lot of sorority girls. But since sororities only have have fall PC's, these mixers aren't really a thing in the spring.
