sorority recs?

by:

I read on the UA greek website something about recommendation letters. It was not clear though if they were required or not. Are they required? Do most girls have them? Does it make a difference in whether you get a bid or not? How many should you have if they are required?

Thanks :)

They aren't a big deal.
If your a legacy you could have whoever in your family that was in a sorority write a letter to that sorority saying your accomplishments and how great of a candidate you are.
If you have friends or your parents friends that are alumni from a sorority your interested in you could have them write a letter too.

Typically theres not too many letters of rec. Our school isn't really like that, its more of a requirement in the south. I didn't have a letter of rec and i got a bid from the house i wanted.

Hope that helped !

they are important to some top houses. you should get at least one for each house. it helps.

I bet they do help a lot if you have them! What if I can't get one for a house I really want to be in and it's a top house? My mom was in a sorority and my best friend's mom was in one too so I can get some but I don't know if I'll be able to get rec letters for all of the houses I want to be in... I'm worried it will really slim my chances from getting in...

Contact your local alumnae panhellenic group. Google it. They can hook you up with alumnae for each sorority you don't have one for who will write one for you. Do it NOW. Don't wait until the last minute.
