As a junior girl considering rushing next semester, what are the chances that sororities will look past my class standing? Do I have any chance of getting into a house?

very few houses take sophomores so your chances as a junior are pretty low. dont expect getting into a top house or even a middle house honestly

just about zero sorry. but aChiO is re-colonizing after failing a few years ago. colonies usually take a mix of girls of all class standings.

lot of sororites take sophomores, but I have never heard of a junior getting a bid, AchiO is a good option though.

Only juniors I've ever known to get bids are either transfers with legacy status and high GPAs OR juniors who've been friends with active members and have high GPAs. And it's pretty rare. Your best opportunity would be to try AXO who is colonizing and will seek a mixture of freshmen/sophomores/juniors. Maybe even seniors?

Won't be a shoo-in -- they will be looking for a mix of classes, but they're going to be selective because they want to start off strong. Are your grades and activities up to par?

Why does it matter so much about what the class standing is? If a girl truly fits in with a house she won't even get a chance because of her year?

They are looking for members who will pay dues, fees, etc. for four years, hold offices, and so on. A freshman rushing will have an advantage over any other class. That's just a fact of life.

So all upperclassmen rushing would essentially get dropped after the first set?

Pretty much unless she's already very well known and liked by a bunch of girls who have pull in the house. Some of the bottom tier houses might be a possibility though.

What if you are a going to be a third year but will graduate in three more years, so instead of doing four years it would be five. Would that have any impact?

If you're going to take six years to graduate you'll just look dumb or lazy.

I am in a top house and just rushed as a sophomore. We had 10 more freshman than sophomores and took a handful of juniors. I can say that during our recruitment practices we asked what the deal was with other top houses not taking sophomores and juniors and they gave the same answer as many of you ^^^ but we are looking for girls who fit, thats it. We don't care what class you are. We have 200+ members we dont need to be worrying about not having enough for 4 straight years. If you match us we want you. Don't worry about your class worry about where you belong! :)

That sounds pretty unlikely. What house are you in? All the top chapters have way more than 200.
