Honestly you just need to accept the fact that the time for joining a fraternity has passed for you. That ship has sailed. No sane 24 year old would want to party and hang out with a bunch of 18 year olds.

Can a 21 year old sophomore get a bid? I just turned 21 yesterday. I started school late.

the more i think about it, the more im tending to think that the fraternities here care more about what year we're in instead of age because they care more about how long we'll be in school in order for them to tell how much we're going to put into the house.

There are plenty of former military guys your age in Greek life but they tend to have special status. You can definitely get a bid if you’re cool but it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Give it a try and see what happens.

thanks for your mature response. i think i'm "cool" because i easily get along with anyone and also back home i hang out with people of all ages. any good questions i can ask the brothers during rush week this spring?

i mean me being over 21 couldn't be too bad since:

1) Im old enough to drink( do alc runs for the whole house, go out to bars with the older brothers)
2) im somewhat more mature than the pledge class, so i won be consider a "risky" pledgee that could harm or get the house in trouble.
3)im still a sophomore, so i have a lot of semester to give back to the chapter/house

@DUALIPA

You have several people in this thread trying to tell you that you're too old, but you keep coming up with excuses.

Bottom line is that it is incredibly weird for a 24 year old to want to join a frat. (Unless you're military) You would actually be considered riskier than freshmen pledges because of your age. You won't bond with your pledge class, you'll creep out all the girls at our parties, and we don't need a 24 year old to do our alc runs for us. We have plenty of guys who are 21.

You say it matters more about what year in school you are, but that's not true. Yes, it matters if we're trying to choose between a freshman and a junior, but not if a 24 year old sophomore is rushing. I know for a fact it will be an automatic NO from my frat, despite how cool and chill you think you are. (I promise you're not as cool as you think you are if you actually want to hang out with a bunch of 18 year olds) 6 years doesn't seem like a huge age difference, but there's a huge maturity gap between even 18 and 22 year olds. 24 is way too old. Sorry dude.

Dude... You asked how your situation would play out. People told you. You didn't like the answer so now you're trying to argue. No one cares about your excuses. If you don't believe us, rush and find out for yourself. The truth of the matter is that you are going to have a very difficult time getting a bid to a decent house as a 24 year old sophomore.

Also, I don't believe for a second that you don't creep girls out. You seem very cringy and have little self awareness. Good luck tho

This is hilarious. I don't know how a 24 year old would creep me out at parties? I might wonder why he would be in Greek being a little older but I wouldn't be creeped out. I say go for it OP it's better to rush to find out how it would play out instead of not doing it and wondering your whole life if you could have gotten a bid. I'm pretty sure not all frat housesvare caught up on age. Now if the OP was like 28 then this would have been a different story lol
