social greeks
by: WittgreeklifeIs anyone else tired of the feats always being on probation? No matter how many hours of community serivce or money donated the university seems to treat us like kids... We are social fraternity's. We didn't join for community service and grades. We joined for brotherhood and partying. Thoughts?

In all honesty, fraternities get away with way more than they should on this campus. Having seen what certain chapters can get away with while doing things that are actually illegal, and having other chapters get penalized for minor incidents makes the whole system backwards. Certain chapters clearly haze their pledges by the looks and reactions of their current pledge class' members attendance to class and state of mind while going to class, and forcing their members to do things they don't want to. I understand this is how it has been since they have been established and it is like this throughout the country, but it's not the 1980s anymore. If fraternities ever want to change the way people view them and their morals, the way they treat their pledges needs to change first to implement a certain mindset for the future members.
