post-rush 2016 frat tiers

by: Trip

SAE, Pike, ZBT
Sig Chi, Phi Psi

Phi Delt, Delt
Beta
Sig Nu, AEPi

DX, LXA
Fiji, Theta Chi, New Sig

With Sig officially not rushing a new class, ZBT was able to sweep a lot of their freshmen with a class close to 40. Pike and SAE ended strong, with 33 & 30 in each. Sig Chi was not as strong, losing best kids to SAE and Pike. Phi Psi started off weak and ended up average. Delt did well, Beta & Phi Delt stayed the same

1. sae clearly owned rush, as made obvious by every other poster
2. lack of old sig caused a "ripple effect" which I think caused each fraternity to get better guys than they usually get
3. a bunch of middle tier frats (phi delt, delt, beta, sig nu) butted heads more than usual - usually they attract their own unique set of guys but a lot of people were rushing multiple of these

I'd move AEPi into the same row but behind beta and either leave SigNu where it is or put it in front of DX. In the middle tier Beta, Delt and AEPi all had strong rush showings, especially the first night of rush, whereas on night one SigNu pulled in the single digits. It's a smaller house generally but it also indicates the weakest rush overall in the mid tier.

Sig Nu pulled in a larger pledge class than Delt and Beta and are among the largest fraternities on campus so not sure if anything you said was accurate

Sig nu self ranking on this site hasn't changed the reality - they are on the same level as delta chi and lambda chi. They only got single digit first night bid drops while all the other middle tiers (delt, beta, AEPI) all had 15+, indicating that they are first choice fraternities and have a clear niche, while sig nu does not

As someone involved in IFC Sig Nu also gave out a single digit number of bids on the first day and will end up with a strong pledge class of around 30 kids. They competed with all of the other mid tier fraternities for kids and pulled their fair share and during rush they were just as crowded and popular as the other middle tier fraternities. I would place Sig Nu above AEPI and alongside Beta and Delt.

IFC here as well, not condoning SigNu self-ranking or anything but a few things to consider:

1. they only had single-digit drops on Day 1 because they only gave out ~10 bids. otherwise they're looking at a class just shy of 30.

2. they were CLEARLY more competitive in the mid-tier this year. whereas last year they would've mostly competed with LXA and DX, this year they both lost kids to and stole kids from Beta, Delt, and Phi Delt. even took a kid who had a bid from old Sig.

not in any of these stupid frats but when i was walking through the quad on day 2 i literally heard delt chanting "#12" so i really doubt they had 15+ on the first day

None of you have any idea what the personalities are like in any of these houses. We'll see what the order is later on when we know which of these pledge classes is the least goobish.

Nailed it. A smaller pledge class (read: 20+ at least) of cool guys is infinitely better than a bigger pledge class of weird guys. We'll let the sororities judge honestly

lambda chi initiated 13 brothers last winter and just rushed 20 kids. that's some serious growth.

doesn't mean they deserve to be moved up in the rankings. 13 is absolutely pathetic, and 20 is still weak by any standards. when they pull a class of 25, then we can talk about bumping them up.

The size of their house doesn't allow for classes of 25 kids; they only have room in their house for like 20 people. What matters is for once they were actually selective with bids and ended up with a particularly strong class.

This is getting pathetic. These "IFC" people are so obviously signus how would they know that much detail about their pledge class haha. Signu stop trying so hard and come to peace with your place on campus.

Not involved in IFC but as someone with past experience in fraternity recruitment IFC active with rush chairs from all fraternities regarding the number of bids, the amounts of drops, and potential turnout. As a whole they would probably know the most regarding recruitment for all fraternities although the above posters probably aren't IFC. The only way you could determine if they rushed well or not would be if they had 25 or more people in their pledge class which would indicate strong interest.

As a freshman who took part in rushing if the "IFC" people are right and Signu did actually pull in a 30 person pledge class wouldn't that mean that they rushed pretty well? The other fraternities that I looked at also pulled in pledge classes around that number or a bit lower and my fraternity had a 27 member pledge class so wouldn't that be at least mid tier?

Morty is correct, I'm not on IFC either but I am a former rush chair and you'll be surprised how much we know about the rush activities of other houses. at the end of each night the rush chairs get a complete list of the bids and drops at every house, plus if you have friends in other houses it's very easy to pick up on all kinds of gossip like who "stole" pledges from whom, etc. while I too am skeptical as to whether the above posters are actually IFC, I still think it's unfair to completely write them off as Sig Nu self-rankers. I could definitely see "animal house" being, for instance, a Delt rush chair.

Is sig nus entire fraternity on this site? I mean this is crazy how aggressively all these people are defending them with long paragraphs. High likelihood that your chapter meetings involve everyone going on Greek rank and up/down voting every post depending on how they portray you
