do sororities already have a list of who they want to give bids to?

We have informal lists of who we like, but ultimately we don't function like frats and can't "give bids" to girls. The system gives the PNM a significant amount of the weight in the decision process. So the 5 days of rush are the only thing that really matter

i would add that it varies widely from chapter to chapter. we all think about these things differently. there may be a few PNMs on campus who know exactly which chapter they want and the chapter wants them from the beginning too, but nothing is a done deal (this cannot be emphasized enough!!), and formal recruitment is definitely the most important/deciding part of the process for like 98% of PNMs.

so don't worry if you don't know anyone in sororities at this point. you'll make those connections and end up in the right place!

How do the chapters pick these lists? Are they collective decisions based on PNM profiles/word of mouth or is based off of actual interactions?

Also, does having friends within a certain chapter help at all?

if anyone has any sort of "list" in advance, it's based off actual interactions (and possibly word-of-mouth). the pnm profiles don't have much to do with anything
