deactivation?

by: curious

Which fraternities/sororities have the most members deactivate and why do these members choose to do so? Are they misrepresented during rush or is it just a matter of the people in those chapters?

Frats: Phi Delt (huge), ZBT, Delt
Sororities: Zeta, Gamma Phi

Generally a lack of brotherhood/sisterhood is to blame

ZBT and Sig Chi both have high deactivation numbers due mostly to high dues

I've actually heard tri delt, theta, chio, zeta and kappa all have high deactivation.

Tri delt cause dues
Theta and kappa cause cattyness
Chio and zeta i have no idea

it should be said that across the board at northwestern, upperclassmen deactivate more frequently than at other (state) schools. the pre-professional culture at this school encourages students to be on the job/internship hunt early, and not preoccupied with "silly" greek life. essentially NU students grow out of greek life by end of junior year.

kind of seems sad, but it's true. it doesn't mean that they didn't have a great experience their first few years.
