a rumor about sorority rush?

I heard someone saying that when you go to chapter houses and check your coats at the house, the sorority girls will look at the coat's brand tag and judge you based on that. If you wear a nice brand (like J.Crew, Ralph Lauren? maybe ), you'll give a better impression. Is that true？

If they do that, why do you care? Are you going to spend a thousand dollars to impress a bunch of girls, or are you going to dress like you have some sense but still be yourself? These questions are ridiculous.

This is a BS rumor that surfaces every year. Stop worrying about what uniformed freshman think or claim (spoiler: it's never true) and instead focus only on YOUR experience with each chapter and you'll have a much, much easier recruitment process.

The girl whos rushing you holds your coat... no one has time to look at the label, and if she tried to while she was talking to you you would notice

Absolutely not. Even if they did they would see so many coats they would forget which coat belonged to which girl

i'm a current sorority active and when i rushed a girl looked at my coat tag and immediately stopped talking to me--so yeah, this is true. but also you dont want to join that chapter anyway.

It may happen in some houses but certainly not in all of them. If you're looking for "wealth" there are easier ways to do it.
