honestly you're describing the middle tier- specifically zeta and gphi

a lot of girls actually end up choosing them over more "top" houses because they want a more down-to-earth experience that picks their members for personality and not just looks. Though they both have a ton of cute girls and have pretty decent social calendars! Probably the most generally liked sororities on campus

Although who knows! You could find another house that matches you even better during rush! There really are nice girls in every house and you'll be able to find a niche wherever you join. Reputations are nice to know, I agree, but they're not the end all and be all!

just don't go kappa and you'll be fine

ALL sororities have mixers and go out, so if you're interested in that, don't choose a house based on it. There are girls who go hard in every single chapter.
You're smart to be looking for a home and a good sisterhood. For "genuine" and "chill" I would say G Phi, DZ, KD, and Zeta are safe bets, but there are women who fit that description in EVERY chapter. You'll be able to find people like you in any chapter that feels good to you during recruitment. 95% of your sorority experience will be determined by how well you like your sisters (as opposed to outside reputation), so go with your instincts.

yeah with most of them you'll find yourself with a niche. tho watch out for houses that seem genuine but could be kind of fake. I've known ppl who originally thought both theta and aphi would be down-to-earth but then they just weren't...

seriously, don't let rankings get you down. I know girls in AXO and XO who go out a ton and every sorority has mixers and a full social calendar. And in my experience, "low tier" sorority members tend to be more secure with who they are and more inclusive of their sisters. A lot of girls in top sororities have criticized the appearance of their sisters right in front of me, and I've just never seen that from girls in the bottom tier. they have nothing but good things to say about their chapter/sisters

Totally depends on personal experiences, but if you're looking specifically for "chill" I think you'll definitely click best with gphi or piphi, maybe KD. Zeta and DZ girls are sweet as could be but I don't know if I'd identify them as chill- they're definitely both a little peppier and more girly. Only ones to be wary of if you're anti social climbing are kappa, theta, and aphi (but if you go through recruitment and really click with any of these chapters, you should still give them a shot)

stop checking rankings and other websites! honestly everyone on here ranks based on their personal experience and tend to put they're own sorority or friends houses on top. Every house has nice girls, every house has a range of personalities. I would go through recruitment and trust your gut. Don't choose things based on "rank" or whatever you hear, and don't choose based on where your friends go-- it's tempting to pref things based on where you know your friends are going but let me tell you I would not fit into the houses I was tempted to put first for this very reason. Another piece of advice I have for someone going through rush, is to pay attention to the details besides the overall vibe. As I think back on little things such as ceremonies during pref night or skits during set three, they really do represent the sorority well. For example, do you fit in well with people who have an uptight/traditional-esk skit? or a house that has a funny/loud outgoing one? or a house with a more chill one? From what I've experienced after getting to know many girls in every sorority, the skits/ ceremonies kind of translate into the major personality/overall vibe of the house. Try to find the house where you feel the best, not the house where you really dislike one girl but love the next. Take notes after each house so you can remember, and go with your gut, remember that the houses also know what they're looking for so don't worry, good luck and im sure you'll find your home here at NU!
