how to stay unbiased thru fall

Do you have friends at NU already? Chapter reps are NOT consistent across schools. I think the fact that you're conscious of it is a good (no, great) thing. Just focus on the individuals you meet in the fall, and don't get caught up in the house they're in. Also, if you think there's a certain house for you, don't talk about it too much. Word does get back to the houses, and it doesn't look the greatest to them (even the sorority you like).

Freshmen: you can change this conversation. If your other freshmen friends (who don't know anything) and dudes you meet in frats (who are extremely biased; most frat guys only know girls in a couple sororitys) are spreading rumors, call them out on their BS. "Who did you hear that from," "that's what I've heard but it seems like people are just repeating rumors," "you can't judge the whole chapter based on two girls you met," etc... Take everything with a grain of salt. Tell others to do the same.

To get a real sense of what the chapters are like, ask upperclassmen girls you meet what they like about their chapters. They're biased of course but their answers will still tell you something. And you'll be more prepared to ask questions during recruitment. During recruitment: pay attention, open your mind, go with your instincts.

Also. Don't stress. Sorority life isn't for everyone. That's totally okay. GET INVOLVED IN OTHER THINGS FIRST.

This is the best post I've seen on this site maybe ever. Greek life is fun at northwestern because everyone gets along and respects everyone

honestly just stay away from greekrank and don't let people tell you what to think about houses. all the sororitys have pros and cons and you have to let the rush process work for you rather than self selecting based on rumors
