advice for an international student for rushing?

I'm rushing for sororities, but English is not my first language. I have found some inside jokes and cultural reference difficult to understand. I'm a funny and outgoing person, and I want to show the best of me to sororities instead of being held back by language barrier. So where should I go if I want to know more about slang, memes and similar things?

I wouldn't worry too much about slang and memes, I was able to make pretty good conversation by talking about what it's like to be here as an international student and asking them questions (and I got a bid from my top choice sorority).
However unfortunately, depending on which country you're from (aka how "exotic") you are, your accent and lack of fluency might hurt your chances :/ Many of my international friends who don't speak English as their first language got cut pretty harshly and imo pretty unfairly. This is really sad and unjust, but prevalent.
