it is possible to not get a bid if you are dropped from all the chapters before preference night. once you get to preference night and MAXIMIZE YOUR OPTIONS (go back to all the houses you're invited to, rank all the houses you have) you are guaranteed a bid to at least somewhere.

The percentage is around 1% or less. It rarely happens. Most girls who go through rush and don't end up in a sorority, usually were given the option. It tends to be more whether or not they feel they are a good fit for the sorority they were matched with. Sororities have quotas too. Someone has to pay for their philanthropy and keep the house running.
