Should I bother rushing a srat
by: potrushI know there's been a lot of problems with Greek Life and racism and stuff and the abolish greek life instagram page, but are any of the remaining sororities still woke? I'm a freshman WOC and wanted to rush, but don't want to put myself in a toxic environment. Would any of the sororities be good for me or should I not bother?

it's not worth it. even if a sorority has "woke" girls the national orgs (southern, white) prohibit a lot of changes so it's hard to cultivate a safe community for WOC. like above said, save your money -- you'd be paying for zooms during the pandemic, which feels insane to me idk

I rushed one of the more “diverse” srats and it’s really not worth it as a person of color lmao it’s all performative DEI for the most part. The mandatory DEI events PHA and srat chapters host are a JOKE. They really weren’t productive AT ALL and I even remember chapter exec board members would make excuses not to go and if they’re not taking DEI serious then who in the chapter will? I’m sure that any women who genuinely cared about diversity have decided to leave their chapter this past summer. If you still want Greek life as a WOC, I suggest joining MGC or one of the D9 Greek chapters. Their community seems much more unified than any white Greek org and they care about way more than just the social aspect Greek life brings. Now every Greek community has its issues, so still do your research.
