other non-traditional sorority ranking from a girl

by: Soph

I really enjoy the non-traditional rankings of sorority post which comes up every now and then, and I'd like to see more positive posts on this website. Going through recruitment, these are the houses which made me feel most at home and I would have been proud to call any of them my sisters.

1. Alpha Phi - I had a wonderful time at this house. The girls I spoke to were all very energetic and seemed genuinely interested in me and what I was looking for in a sorority. The whole house had such a home-y feeling to it and I got such a good sisterhood vibe. Their recruitment chair was so gorgeous and so were all of the sisters. Some of my closest friends ended up here and I always love going to their events. They're all really fun - although they do have similar personalities, which is where I guess the boring stereotype comes from? Overall one of my personal favorites.
2. Pi Phi - Every single girl I spoke to in this house was interesting and had all different life experiences. They're definitely a lot of fun, and edgy enough to keep you on your toes without being off putting. Pi Phis are always having fun around campus and are some of the most supportive people I've ever met. I know there are rumors about internal drama, but I've personally never seen it.
3. Gamma Phi - Genuinely nice girls. I know there's been a lot of nonsense about them on this site, but I've liked almost every GPhi that I've met. They are caring and often very involved in extracurriculars. Group moms.

4. Zeta – I had a really good time in this house! The girls were fun, and they seemed to be enjoying recruitment. The girls I know in Zeta could have fit into a lot of different sororities, but they were also very cohesive. One of my favorite girls in my RC group went here. A little wilder, but still a great house.
5. Theta – I enjoyed this house more than I expected. I had heard a lot about girls being catty, but the girls that I spoke to were all very nice and made me feel welcome. Their house was beautiful, and all of the conversations that I had here were very relaxed.
6. Chi Omega – This house surprised me. I met a Chi O that I really didn’t like before recruitment, so I was surprised to find that many of her sisters were talkative and engaging. I probably ended up on some of my most unusual tangents in this house, and it’s obvious that they all really care for each other and don’t deserve their rep.
7. Delta Zeta – Very nice girls. I’ve heard a lot of rumors that they’re weird religious or bland people, but they definitely don’t deserve that. They’re definitely more laid back about the sorority life, but they’re still interesting and care a lot about grades and being involved on campus.
8. Kappa Delta – I had mixed conversations at this house. The girls that I liked, I really liked, but I also really disliked a few girls. They definitely had a quirky vibe and they’re very confident in who they are, and are welcoming of anybody.

I will leave the rest of the houses unranked.

Alpha Chi – Most of the conversations that I had at this house felt very similar. This house stood out, but not in a good way. However, I have been very impressed by the amount and quality of philanthropy events they did fall quarter.

Tridelt – I was disappointed by Tridelt. I went in expecting Tridelt to be my favorite house, but it was exactly the opposite. The girls I talked to seemed very self-involved, and I don’t particularly remember my conversations there. They still seem to have a good time though.

Kappa – Many of the girls I talked to had a bad case of “wandering eyes” and seemed generally disinterested. I don’t see Kappas around campus much.

Delta Gamma – Some conversations I had were very pleasant at this house, but I had one really unfortunate conversation which turned me off from the house. I think that just might have been one bad apple though.

Rankings are stupid in general because you basically just gave your favorite houses, and obviously, this is going to be unique for each person. Pnms, don't base your decisions off a few people or silly superficial rankings. In the end, it matters what you think, and only you.
