competitive

Note for freshmen - people are going to tell you that Greek life isn't competitive here, but it is. Half of the girls drop during recruitment because they don't get invited back to houses (for example, they're cut from 6-8 sororities first round and give up on the houses.) and many of these drop outs are beautiful, smart, talented, and well rounded girls.
So here's a tip - GET TO KNOW THE GIRLS IN SORORTIES BEFORE RECRUITMENT. You will see many in your classes (sophomores still take intro level classes or big classes fall quarter.) you will meet many during preview. some of them will be your RA, PA, or whatever. You will see them at tailgates and parties.
Believe me, even middle tiers are competitive and have high enough return rates that they can and will cut girls heavily in the beginning.
BE HUMBLE. And more importantly, be yourself.
Good luck

Why so rude? They're being honest about recruitment numbers. The top and upper mid houses (theta kappa Tridelt / a phi Pi phi and dg) have really good return rates (historically and currently). So women are prob going to get cut from them, especially since legacies get courtesy invites. I went in as a freshman thinking that recruitment here would be easy, but on pref night, half of my rc group dropped because they got cut from their favorite houses. So many girls were crying during round 2 (where heaviest cuts are made). This may be NU, but it's not a walk in a park. Recruitment is difficult and tiring, but very rewarding.
