disadvantage as a nonnative texan

by: Chicago Sorority PNM

I am considering attending UT next fall, but rushing has always been something I've wanted to do. Both my parents were in the Greek system and I really want to be a part too. I was wondering if growing up in a Chicago suburb would this be a disadvantage in the rushing process because I will not know anyone else at the school. If it's a complete no for me be honest and if you believe I will be fine could you let me know how to improve my chances of getting a bid(ex. Letters of rec, etc.). Thank you.

Try to find girls from your area or other high schools that go here. Knowing someone in a sorority goes a long way when you're not from Texas.

Its not a complete no - some groups have more out of state girls than others. Suggest that you get recommendations for all groups, try to find someone you know at UT and stay positive. You should go through no matter what - if it doesn't work out, make good grades and try again your sophomore year.

Zeta is slipping so they are starting to take more out of state girls.
