spirit groups: spikes vs wrangers?
by: newKidI just wanted to follow up on my earlier post here where people recommended that I look into spikes or wranglers. Can someone tell me more about the quality of guys in both, who they mix with, social life etc? Also I'll take any other recommendations on spirit groups out there. The ones I know of are these two and Tejas, but if there are others that are also good do let me know. Thanks again for the help

Read all the previous comments and think this deserves some sort of update on male spirit orgs on campus from a girls perspective.
Wranglers are known to be athletic. Their pledges are called Mavericks. Part of their pledgeship is workouts from 6-8am every morning. I have a few wrangler friends and have heard that one downside to being a maverick is that in your pledge semester it is more focused on exercising rather than meeting girls/partying. They also have a history of SA which is why one female spirit group on campus is not allowed to be at events where alcohol is served with wranglers. Wranglers also have a house. Wranglers also have sweethearts which is pretty cool.
Iron Spikes is more of a mix between smart/athletic guys. They do not have a house, and I am good friends with a few. Their pledges are called rookies. During their pledge ship, they also have workouts a few times a week from 7-8am. Another difference between the two is that during the pledge semester rookies tend to have mixers with girl spirit orgs/sororities 2-3 times a week. From what I am seeing on here it seems people think they are solely a service organization with strict rules but that is not true. They have solid tailgates for every home football and baseball game, about 1-2 bar tabs a month.
Not sure on the dues for either but it can't be more than like $700\n\n\n\n\n
