iron spikes vs sigep sigchi

by: ut18

So I'm currently a sophomore and I'm thinking about rushing sigep sigchi and a few other places next fall. But I feel like I might be too old and am thinking about joining a spirit group instead like iron spikes. Also I'll be here for three more years since I'm a transfer if that makes a difference. Just looking for some input, thanks

no comparison. Go for the frat. Spirit groups are certainly fun but seem to be a substitute for those who don't have the money or ability to get a UT frat/sor bid. If you get into a frat, then joining a spirit group on top of that is icing on the cake.

Cast a wider net with the fraternities. Sigma Chi is solid -- but so are many that you don't mention. For example check out Zete, which has been getting better recently. You say you're older, which might mean military veteran, in which case Sig Ep probably isn't a good choice. Keep looking at more fraternities.

SigEp and Sigma Chi are both good mid tier options that I would pursue.

Everyone is quick to say go greek but to be honest there are great guys in both. Spikes is definitely the spirit group to join if you're going to do one. The others don't really get respect from other guys in frats or girls. I know guys in both and they talk to the same girls lol.
