rush transfer
by: out of stateI am planning on transferring to UT next year from an SEC school and want to rush. How difficult will my chances of getting in a house be, since i will be a sophomore transfer?

Are you wealthy and connected to current actives and/or very pretty? What is your resume like, and what philanthropy and society events did you participate in in high school? You have to remember that a lot of sophmores going through recruitment will have spent most of their freshman year making connections with actives. There are some sophmores who were transfers who participate in recruitment and they have a good rush, but 85% of them came from SMU/TCU/Baylor for a year and then transferred to UT, and they know current actives from camp and high school. If the above does not describe you, then just know that your options will be limited to maybe 3-4 sororities. If you're fine with that then go through recruitment.

I have some connections at UT who are all in good houses, but i am not extremely close to any. My resume at from high school contains things like Student Body President, VP of Key Club, Tennis captain, choir. But would that matter since i will be a sophomore? Yes my parents are well off, looks are good. I just did not want to go through ACC this year, but after being at this SEC school it is obvious i made the wrong decision.
