spirit groups
by: rusheeI know this is a greek life website, but I wanted to ask if anyone knew about alternatives to fraternities here at UT. I've heard good things about Tejas and Iron Spikes, but that Tejas takes forever to get into. Can anyone tell me more about Iron Spikes and how they compare to social life with fraternities? Thanks in advance

Reach out to rush chairs (contact information for them or for other officers is usually on chapter websites/social media pages) so you can get put on the rush lists and get invited to events. Most recruitment takes place over the summer next year so you have time. Many chapters recruit a couple weeks into the school year as well.

looking at the newsletters on chapters' sites really helps sometimes. For the relevant/good chapters, that can give you information on where some of their events are. It's much more worth it to end up somewhere that gives you more options. Everyone should know this.

I'm a 2016 grad and will go to UT (top 6%). I plan to look into rushing a fraternity. However, my dad was a Wrangler. Would I be better off trying to become a Wrangler? I'm smart, reasonably attractive, in great shape, I just don't have all these connections I keep hearing everyone talking about except my dad and uncle went to UT.
