pi kapp

Not a Pi Kapp but I am impressed that they bagged a 30 man pledge class and are buying the old PhiPsi house. Not saying they are mid tier but they sure are leaving Delta Sig and Acacia behind.

in my opinion they have been on the rise for a while. a good group of guys too, not just big for the sake of having larger numbers

Pi Kapp has always been ahead of delta sig and acacia, they're probably somewhere between lambda chi and phi delt. Phi Delt got away from them with some big pledge classes but Pi Kapp will probably catch up and overtake them now that they're getting a better house. The real test will be whether they can start competing with phi psi/pike/ato

100% agree with this! I think Pi Kapp, with this very solid PC and their new house, can eventually start competing with phi psi/pike/ato. And yeah, they've always been farrrrr ahead of delta sig and acacia, and will probably really pull away from phi delt soon, too. Good work, Pi Kapp!

I've always really liked Pi Kapp compared to the other smaller chapters. They're not your typical Texas frat, but it works for them and they all seem to enjoy being in the same group. I just hope that them inevitably getting bigger doesn't take away from that and that they can translate that brotherhood to a bigger group/house/social position.

Pi Kapp bought the psi psi house? Dang. I bet lambda chi and phi delt are kicking themselves, that's one of the biggest/best locations for a house at UT

You wish, phi delt. Enjoy your tiny house in the middle of nowhere.

They'll probably have a 40+ 2015 recruitment class size, so that with the new huge ass house honestly puts them way ahead into the middle tier. They can pretty much now be placed/ranked along fraternities like ATO.

They will get 40 if they work hard and do the right thing. The audition for Pi Kapp starts now they better not f... It up. You don't get many chances to get into the middle tier

Pi Kapp will be mid tier when they get a good pull with mid tier groups like AXO and DG and maybe A DPI at mixers.

I think their 2015 class was around 30, which is a big improvement. But yeah, next year will be important for them to see whether they can make the transition to the new house work.

It takes a lot of work for a fraternity to move tiers like that.. I am honestly impressed with what they have accomplished.

Sigma chi did it, and it all started with a 30 man pledge class in 2011. They went from about where Pi Kapp is now (they used to compete for rushees back in 09 and 10) to sitting comfortably below the top 4 with KA. Not saying Pi Kapp will achieve that, but there is precedent for a bottom tier ascending quickly with a good house and a good series of recruitments.

If Pi Kapp plays their cards right and can continue recruiting well/throw good parties, they may be able to fill the void that Pike and Phi Psi are starting to create. Phi Delt is doing well but will plateau where they are, and the rest of the middle tier is in a lull/downturn. Sigma Chi basically somersaulted to upper middle when KA fell from grace and Kappa Sig took their place, so movement across tiers is all about opportunity and momentum which is what's happening now in the middle tier.
