How accepting are the sororities of out of state PNMs? I'm from Chicago.

Not very accepting. Especially since you're from Chicago-you'll be considered a "Yankee". Top houses focus pretty much only on girls from prominent Texas cities, and the others still try to take only Texas girls and girls from the South. Some will take West coast girls. Also-are you white or black? Or mixed? Because that can make a difference.

Honestly I think I'd fit in more in the south than chicago. I'm white, conservative, and pretty well off. I love my Lilly, pearls, and George Strait. So many people have told me that it'd suit me to attend college in the south. And idk I am sort of drawn to the fact that it's something different. Rn I'm just torn between UT and UIUC because they're very comparable in terms of what I'm looking for in a school, however if what you're telling me is true, then UIUC is probably better if I'm hoping for a top house/upper middle house.

wtf is this. Of course they're accepting of oos pnms, especially if they're from cool cultured places and big cities like chicago. Jesus Christ.

@Chicagoan one thing though. don't wear Lilly during recruitment. It's a big no no. I mean if you want to go for it, but I would suggest you not. It's trying too hard.

Many out of state girls got bids from their top choice sororities.

Austin is NOT the South. If you want the South, try Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, etc.

This is so true. And wearing Lilly and pearls would be totally appropriate-and even expected-at the schools mentioned above. The SEC schools definitely have more of that Southern feel than UT.

You should probably be more concerned about getting admitted to UT at this point. OOS admission is even more competitive than instate.

If you want to wear Lilly and pearls and experience "Southern" culture, definitely try Alabama, Ole Miss, or even God forbid A&M. UT girls don't take kindly to try-hards. And the mid-upper tiers already have their PCs picked out
