postgrad advice

For those of you looking to rush or currently going through the process:
It's easy to get caught up in the social roller coaster that is Greek life at UT, and for many people that means getting preoccupied with tiers, social hierarchies, relations with groups of the opposite gender, etc. But take it from someone who's been through the system and is now on the other side: unless your letters are a long-standing part of your family's history, odds are your affiliation won't have all that significant of an impact on your life as a whole.
It's all important to you now, I know. Who has the most fun, who mixes with the hottest girls, who has the nicest house, who has the best reputation. All of these things get weighed when you choose where to go, but most of these aspects won't have much meaning after you graduate. What does last are the friendships and connections you make that you carry with you beyond college and into the rest of your life. So choose a group where you feel like you fit in. Where you like the people. The relationships you make will be what you remember ten years from now.

And if a chapter is top tier at UT, it doesn't mean that they are top tier everywhere. They can be bottom crap tier in a state where you relocate for a job, grad school, etc. Who looks good now? The above poster is right. It only matters to you and what others think now. But your sorority life experience goes beyond 4 years and the connections/friendships you make. I have met sisters from every corner of the states. I have met sorority women in other groups through alumnae involvement. Many of them who I am still good friends with today. The older you get, the more you realize that all groups have the same common goal, just different letters.

Amazing, completely accurate post. PNMs, please consider this sage advice above!! It's so true! EVERY group has some tip top chapters and some not so top chapters. It's an honor to be a member of any of the groups at UT.
