Did sororities base some of their choices on pnm home towns? Do they prefer some towns to others?

That's the point. We don't accept everyone. We are selective organizations. That's what recruitment is all about.

am I the only one honestly curious?

It depends by house & by tier honestly. Have other girls from your high school pledged at UT? What houses are they all in? Were you friends with any of them in high school? If so, that is probably the house(s) most interested in you.

let's all pledge the same house as the girls we went to high school with and just make college like 13th grade! OMG SAMESIES. We can relive the big game from our junior year and maybe we can recreate prom! OMG I hope Becca gets queen! GTFO.

Many high schools have girls scattered throughout 5-6 chapters on campus. Since connections DO matter, the houses where you know the most people are your best chance....doesn't mean a Highland Park or Memorial girl won't pledge AXO occasionally but the majority of them are in PKT and XO/DDD.

If you were looking to expand your horizons, this is the wrong school. Imagine if all your HS friends were pledging the same chapter. Imagine if those were friends you actually liked and had always gotten along with? Combine that with your own natural insecurity and fear of the new and unknown, everyone else's, and there you go!

There's nothing really wrong with "13th grade," no one cares as much after college anyway.

Don't worry.Every sorority accepts girls from all over the state and OOS. If you are attractive, good grades, good references, and personality plus, you will have many options. It happens every year and anyone who pretends otherwise is lying. Small town, suburb, urban...ify ou have the profile I just mentioned you will find a great sorority home here. Good luck.

It really depends on what you want. PKT and Big 6 in general may be hard(not impossible), but there are other wonderful options outside these 6. And not everyone cares to be in those. Not to say Big 6 isn't great, because they are. Just there is a fit for ALMOST everyone and there is no need to be unkind to someone just asking a question. Yes, she probably isn't going PKT without strong connections, but gee people. Is it necessary to be so d@mn snarky?

I am sure your biting wit and quips have carried you far in your career as a middle school student. Good luck in 7th grade. Sorry you didn't make the cheer squad, but manager is practically the same thing. Seriously.

Make the cheer squad at your mediocre public high school. Because THAT'S something I prioritize...prancing around in a skirt when I could be playing a real sport. Okay ChiO

Is there any way we could maybe stand up for women rather than running this embarrassing thread? Only way anything will change is if we encourage each other.
