I DON'T CARE if some of us have our pledge classes picked out already, rudeness is inexcusable and whoever the eff these nationals reps are should be aware of what goes on. I'm in a "top" house. I don't care if we know we're probably going to cut a girl, I try to be as friendly as I can and learn something good about her in case there's still quota room. Just because y'all don't like someone doesn't mean you need to let them know and hurt them during a process that everyone finds hellish enough. Imagine if someone had done that to you during rush.
These are all the ways I know and have seen people be awful to pnms during recruitment:
- Putting people in a separate room during open house at Pi Phi: it's not the dance that's the problem, it's that room.
- Making fun of PNMs at Kappa and having them stand in front of the fan deliberately. Actives making up names and hometowns that aren't theirs. Ridiculing PNMs they really don't want instead of just being cordial for 5 minutes.
- ChiO - the worst by far. Blatant exclusion of some girls from any conversation where they'll literally just stand there and say nothing to the pnm.
- DG has also been ridic on occasion.
IF A PNM CAN TELL YOU DGAF AND DON'T EVEN VALUE HER PRESENCE, THAT'S BAD. LIKE, VERY BAD. So much for all these manners y'all talk about on here.
TriDelt, Zeta, and Theta aren't bad. Neither are the rest of the houses. The conduct in the above four described, however, needs a crackdown.

I'm from a different school and I'm in one of the three houses you listed at the bottom that aren't that bad. Tri delt to be specific. I heard about the craziness that goes on at UT rush and was curious if my sorority was involved in some of the nastiness that goes on with PNMs. I'm so glad to hear that they can still be very strong recruiters without having to make PNMs uncomfortable.
As for the others, my mind is honestly blown. I go to a school with an extremely cut throat recruitment, but I could NEVER imagine this happening. Just, wow. Is Pi Phi the house that is responsible for the glitter and piggyback parties too? Or is it just the dance party? Pi Phi is pretty strong nationally so I'm shocked no one has stepped in and put a stop to that.

ALSO, as a seasoned recruiter, I've talked to my fair share of PNMs who I don't like and who I know are not right for my chapter. But the whole goal of recruitment is to get EVERY PNM to like, or at least respect your house. So that even if they don't join your chapter, at least they'll have good things to say about you for the rest of the year. Recruitment doesn't end at bid day. It's a year long process.

Fans and switching names of PNMs= Kappa
Tri Delt and Zeta might be standoffish to girls they know they don't want, but they aren't known for anything outrageous like the other 4. The other sororities don't do anything like that either.
