how to avoid sdt?
by: PNMI'll be rushing next week and after reading the horror stories posted will be doing my best to avoid SDT. What is the best way to prevent getting a bid? I've seen a few people comment that the "computer system" screws things up for PNMs, but what exactly does that mean? Thanks

SDT is a great organization that is full of nice girls. If you think you are too good for them, then you are mistaken. If you can't accept a bid from SDT, then you shouldn't be Greek. You clearly don't understand the purpose of a sorority.
You can avoid SDT by dropping out of recruitment right now.

"If you had a good reputation in high school, good grades and got your rec letters in then you will be FINE. You'll land at the right house for you"
This is BAD advice and the same Panhellenic twaddle that girls without connections believe and think they have a real chance at schools with competitive recruitments. If you are from Dalhart or Sequin you can be the homecoming queen/valedictorian and have gotten all your recs in before the deadline but your chances of landing at the right house for you are SLIM and NONE. No it's not fair but welcome to UT.

This was clearly written by an SDT. The fact of the matter is that Sigma Delta Tau DOES NOT represent greek life as a whole at Texas. SDT is more of a Tshirt club than anything else. They don't mix with fraternities, are extremely small in size, and do not have a house (every other sorority does). So no, do not drop out of recruitment now. Things will work out in your favor in the end. If you had a good reputation in high school, good grades and got your rec letters in then you will be FINE. You'll land at the right house for you even if you have to pay a visit to SDT a few times!
