is greek life worth it?
by: rusheeSo I know this is a very controversial question to ask on this site, but I wanted to find out from you guys if you think greek life is worth the money that you guys put into it. Unlike most people in greek life who have their parents pay for them, I will be paying 100% of the fraternity dues and fees and I don't know if I'm ready to let go of nearly 2 years of my savings go so quickly. I'm currently looking at middle-tier houses like ato and phi psi which are "affordable" but still around 5-6k in general. If you think this may be overpriced, can you guys recommend any alternatives possibly like sprit groups? Anyways just looking for some thoughts here before I enter this university and join a brotherhood.

I would say Greek life is completely worth it. I know at least Phi Psi has scholarship programs to reduce dues or cover them completely and I would bet many other chapters have something similar. The bond you will make with your pledge brothers and the connections you will have in the professional world because of your Greek afilliation are unmatched, I would reccomend 100% my dude.

There is no way you will get your moneys worth. Chapter dues are reaching UT tuition amounts.....
Chapter embezzlement is rampant at UT.
You will get @ 20 cents to the dollar return in a UT Chapter.
Watch your Chapter Officers go on weekend trips, cruises and always get hotel suites at Chapter parties.
Chapter members get a cash bar, extra party expense dues and have to pay for a standard hotel room and to crowd in their drunk Chapter members overnight.
Yeah !!!! ???
