I just got into Texas and plan to rush next fall. I am a Pi Phi legacy(not UT)and went to Waldemar. However, I am not from a big city, and I won't know anyone except maybe camp friends. My mom wants me to stay in Hardin, but I am worried about not knowing anyone and being uncomfortable there. So my question is SRD or Hardin? I really like the size of Hardin, but SRD looks nicer.

SRD is SO much nicer and the food is also a lot better than Hardin. Many of the girls who stay in Hardin know each other from big-name, wealthy high schools like Highland Park, Memorial, Stratford, Episcopal, etc. or went to Camp Longhorn, Waldemar, etc. together. I think you might be uncomfortable at first, but once rush is over and you pledge a sorority, you will feel more comfortable... maybe. Many of the girls who live at Hardin are big legacies at Pi Phi, Kappa, Theta, Chi Omega. You see girls who pledge Delta Gamma, ADPi, Tri Delt, Alpha Phi live at SRD more often... There are also a lot of Chi O's who live at SRD this year.

Thank you for the info. So what is the big deal with Hardin if everything at SRD is nicer? Only thing I can think of is if girls in Hardin get to know each other better because it is so much smaller? Why do all those really wealthy girls stay there?

Sorry to barge in but, admissions decisions don't come out until late February, right?

Because all their moms stayed there and because the rooms are bigger and girls from those big high schools are just known to stay there so the girls from those high schools that come in continue to stay there... I don't know if that makes sense. Connections are EVERYTHING when you're going through rush at Texas... and the same thing applies with where these girls live.. aka Hardin. Also, those who are in the top 8% are admitted before February.

My class rank and SAT are pretty good. I think if you are in top 10% you must find out earlier....I think it is automnatic because of state money or something. I haven't heard about honors programs yet though....

does that mean that staing at Hardin helps you with rush?

I guess that also means that if connections are everything, rush is going to be very hard for me, right? Will Waldemar and Pi Phi legacy (not UT!) help?I assume I have some camp friends in some sororities, but that will be all I know. Do girls from Waldemar pledge any particular
sorority? UT rush sounds scary!

To the Squatter below- can't you come up with a new theme? You used that same subject MONTHS ago. You're a joke.
